Michael Haines

Psychotherapy and Creative Arts

SERVICES

I'm a psychotherapist that believes in helping people navigate through their lives by providing a judgement free and collaborative effort. I provide therapy to ages 10 and above.  I offer therapy for individuals, families, couples and groups.

PROJECTS

I'm also an artist that believes that artistic expression is a powerful form of therapy as well as a catalyst for healing.  I have donated my artistic services to expand the reach of such organizations as The Ana Grace Project and the Love Wins school based initiative.

CLIENTS

I have primarily worked with ages 5 and up.  I spent many years working with the very diverse culture of the New Britain CT area.  I have experience and training with trauma informed care, ADHD, Substance abuse, anxiety and Depression. I am an LGBT ally.

More About me

I am first and foremost an artist.  I consider therapy an art form. However, my bachelors degree is a BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Connecticut.  I worked as a medical assistant for many years and also spent 5 years volunteering as an emergency medical technician on the Suffield Ambulance.  After which I began my graduate studies and received a MS degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  The bonding of an artistic, medical, and psychotherapy ideology has provided me with a unique set of tools for helping clients.  Furthermore I have lived in countries such as France and Spain.  I spent my time in those countries immersed in the culture as well learning to speak the local languages fluently.  I have also lived on the West Indies island of Antigua.  Throughout all of my travels, my occupational and educational training I have come to embrace one thing:  Every person is unique, every person is exceptional and I look forward to meeting new people and walking along side them during their therapeutic journey.
